Paul J. Barlow

Paul John Barlow, 75, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Syracuse, died Thursday. Born in Schenectady, he lived most of his life in Syracuse before moving to Florida in 1989. He graduated from DeForest Electronics Institute, Chicago. He retired in 1974 after 20 years as a sergeant with the Syracuse Police Department. Following retirement, he was a captain in the Syracuse University Security Department for 13 years. He was a member of the National Association of Chiefs of Police and the police fraternal and retirees associations. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.Survivors: His companion, Dorothy Kause; a daughter, Carol Woody of North Carolina; two sons, Gary A. of LaFayette and Steven of Homer; a sister, Jean Clark of Venice, Fla.; a brother, Ronald of Pompey; seven grandchildren. Services: Private. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours, 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd. E., DeWitt.
