Frank Budzielek

Frank Budzielek, 82, of Syracuse, passed away on Wednesday after a courageous battle with cancer.

Frank was a life resident of Syracuse where he attended Eastwood High School. He was a devoted husband, father and Dziadzi. After receiving an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, Frank worked at Western Electric, before becoming a Criminal Investigator for the Syracuse City Police Department. He received many awards and accommodations, during his 20 years of service with the department. He was recognized in the book, "Death of the Innocents" and in several other publications. Frank later went on to work as Director of security at the Sheraton University Inn.

He was an active member of Pastime Athletic Club, Lyncourt Seniors and St. Daniel's Wisdom People. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, golf, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, of 59 years, the former Carmella LaValle; his daughter, Vickie L. (Mark) Keeler; his son, Tracy A. (Pamela) Budzielek; his grandchildren, Jason and Joshua Keeler and Chloe and Alexander Budzielek; his sisters, Mary Sherman, Helen Orynycz and Maryann Burgess; his brother, Stanley "Bud" Budzilek and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 9 a.m., February 2, in St. Daniel Church. Entombment, with Military Honors, will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. There will not be any calling hours.
