Dusty Metzger

 Duane "Dusty" Metzger, 75, of East Syracuse, died at Crouse Hospital on Wednesday. He retired as a Lieutenant from the Syracuse Police Department after 35 years of service. During his career at the police department, he was Commander of the Crime Control Team, a detective and a member of Internal Affairs. He was a avid reader, photographer, golfer, a member of Wanoa Golf Club, and was on the Board of Directors and volunteer at Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum (CLCBM). He is survived by: his wife of 53 years, Joan; son, Philip Metzger of East Syracuse; daughters, Janice Needle of East Syracuse, Carol Pavlus of Liverpool, and Kathleen Zaretsky of East Syracuse; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services are Saturday 9 a.m. at the Goddard Crandall Shepardson Funeral Home. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling Hours are Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, 3111 James Street.
