Sheridan W. "Butch" Meaker July 9, 2010 Sheridan W. "Butch" Meaker, 71, of Westvale, passed away Friday at home, surrounded by his family and close friends, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Syracuse, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps out of high school. In 1959 he joined the Syracuse Police Dept., retiring in 1984 after 25 years of service. Butch owned Advance Paving for 43 years and was the proprietor of Meaker's Inn, Elbridge, for five years. In 2001 he married his wife, Marie (Dadario), at Boldt Castle and renewed his vows on July 9, 2010. He was an avid golfer, loved weightlifting and bowling, was a Syracuse Classic bowler and was a daily member of Pine Grove Country Club. He loved landscaping his yard and enjoyed his yearly trip to Myrtle Beach with his wife, family and friends. He always looked forward to his daily gathering upstairs at Wegmans with his close friends. Surviving are his wife of eight years, Marie Meaker; his children, Deborah Ann (Ron) Dillabough, Sheridan Michael (Patty), Mary Catherine (Timothy) Thornton, Linda Meaker, Eric Meaker, Susan Elizabeth McKee, Michael Raymond Meaker; his nine siblings, Patty Madigan, Nancy (Richard) Smith, Judy (Pat) Mullen, Sue Dennis, Gail (Dennis) Odrzwolski, Michael (Mary), Timmy, Arthur and Ronald (Chris) Meaker; 16 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets, especially, Buster. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Whelan Bros. & Hulchanski Funeral Home, 3700 W. Genesee Street. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
