George Rauh

George Rauh, 92, of Syracuse, died on Wednesday at his home. He had served with the US Army during World War II in Germany.

George retired in 1984 after 36 years with the Syracuse Police Department and was awarded the Hendrick's Medal. George was an avid golfer and a member Wa-Noa Golf Course. He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and a former member of the Holy Name Society and the Softball team.

He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Mary, who died in 1998 and his brother John Rauh.

He is survived by his son James (Patricia) of Saugerties, NY; daughter Deborah (Richard) Buonvecchio of East Syracuse; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, a niece and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 8:30 at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home and at 9:00am in Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Mausoleum.

Calling hours are Friday from 4-7pm at the funeral home, 3111 James Street.
