Grave Stone

Smiley moved to Eaastwood as a child but he had deep Tipperary Hill roots. He was born on Whitter Ave and baptized in St Patrick's where he had family members back to 1869. John was fiercely proud of his Irish heritage. He was somewhat of an expert in Irish surnames and Irish history. I can remember John telling me that names like Fitzgerald were not true Irish, but descendants of the hated Normans.
