Pete Wright

June 1, 2015

Peter J Wright, of Indian Trail, NC, born July 6 1935 to Burton H Wright and Helen J Shaver Wright and passed away on June 1, 2015. Brother of Barbara (Chuck) May, Burton (Karol) Wright, Raymond (Sally) Wright, Susan Wright. He was married to Noretta J Taffe Wright for nearly 60 years this November 2015. He often said he fell in love with his beautiful wife the first moment she looked at him with her "beautiful green eyes", and that love lives on. They went on to have six children: Debra (David) Phinney, Timothy (Elaine) Wright, Kathleen (Steven) Kopnicky, Karen (Thomas) Kaika, Linda (Timothy) Lane and Sandra (Patrick) Wilson. Who in turn gave them 12 beautiful grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

Peter put his wife and family before himself throughout their whole lives. He worked very hard to provide for them. He taught them many lessons like a strong work ethic, and to always be there for one another.

Pete retired from the Syracuse Police Department as a Captain in 1992 . He proudly served his community for 35 years and wore his badge with honor, courage, strength, commitment, and compassion. He was very proud of his father, Burton H Wright, who was the Fire Chief for the city of Syracuse, New York. During his 35 year career he served as Acting Deputy Chief, and Acting Chief many times, but his fondest memories were of the 20 years he served as a Motorcycle Police Officer.

It is with great sadness that we announce his passing on June 1, 2015. It brings us comfort to know that he is now with the Lord. With heavy hearts we have said our goodbyes, for now. We thank GOD that he gave us Dad for nearly 80 years, our fond memories will never be forgotten, they will give us comfort.

Services in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 3:00PM at Weddington United Methodist Church. A reception will follow in the Church fellowship hall.

Rest now our beautiful Dad, we love and miss you very much.
